T155 - Iron Ore car Dumper - Port Hedland

Contract Objective

Commencing in May 2011 through to completion in June 2012, the scope of works included the construction of the T155 Car Dumper-vault level, apron feeder level, trunion level, rail drive level, ingo and outgo foundations and double conveyor tunnels. The contract objective was to construct within budget and ahead of the approved baseline programme.

Construction Quantities

720 c/m blinding installed. 18718 sq/m structural formwork installed including false work and supports. 2665 tonnes of reinforced steel installed. 15402 cu/m of structural concrete poured.

Project Achievements

Contracted works completed four weeks ahead of schedule. Contracted works completed within the allocated budget. No environmental incidents reported. Twelve audits completed to 100% compliance. Outstanding safety performance with just one lost time injury from 50-75 personnel onsite and a total of 215,300 man hours.

Project Challenges

Duration for mobilisation to site was just three weeks. Craneage and logistics required flexibility of sequence and program of works to align with client requirements. Wet season disruption to works progress on four separate occasions. Weather affected construction program impacting on-site with a greater interface with other contractors.
