Contract Objective

Commencing in July 2009 through to completion in December 2009, the scope of works included the construction of oil ring beams, ball and sag mill foundations, crusher station, fine ore bin, reagents area, conveyor slabs, pedestals, and associated concrete structures for gold plant facility.The contract objective was to construct within budget and ahead of the approved baseline programme.

Construction Quantities

110 c/m blinding installed. 2674 sq/m structural formwork installed including false work and supports. 340 tonnes of reinforced steel installed. 2939 cu/m of structural concrete poured.

Project Achievements

Contracted works completed two weeks ahead of schedule. Contracted works completed within the allocated budget. Just one (dust control) environmental incident reported. Three audits completed to 100% compliance. Outstanding safety performance with just one lost time injury from 50-75 personnel onsite and a total of 215,300 man hours.

Project Challenges

Craneage and logistics required flexibility of sequence and program of works to align with client requirements. Wet season disruption to works progress. Weather affected construction program impacting on-site with a greater interface with other contractors.
